Broadcast Feed Problems Briefly Halt World Series Game 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Game 1 of the World Series was briefly halted Tuesday evening, after a broadcast truck lost power.

The game between the New York Mets was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when play was halted due to technical difficulties with the Fox TV feed. Play was delayed for about seven minutes.

Umpires spoke with managers of both teams and also put on headsets, presumably to speak with Major League Baseball's replay center in New York.

CBS Sports reported play was stopped because Fox would not have been able to use replay with the TV feed down.

The reason for the broadcast truck problems was not immediately confirmed, but Google Fiber issued a tweet that seemed to indicate it was at fault.

"We're so sorry about the outage in KC," Google Fiber tweeted. "We know it couldn't have happened at a worse time, and we're working as quickly as we can to fix it."

Play later resumed. Fox used the MLB international feed for its broadcast while the problems with its own truck persisted.

Fox coverage also briefly later went to black again, prompting the network to show a "technical difficulties" slate and send coverage back to the studio.
