Rare Jewelry On Display At New York City Jewelry And Watch Show

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Diamonds, emeralds and rubies -- some of them the rarest of their kind -- are on display in New York City, and for sale if you're ready to open your wallet.

As CBS2's Vanessa Murdock reports, it's a sensory overload for the eyes at the New York City Jewelry and Watch Show being held at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

"You can find pieces that kinds, queens, princes wore over the centuries. I know we have tiaras," said President and CEO of Palm Beach Show Group Scott Diament.

And they're incredible. One dates back to 1870 and features 30 carats of diamonds set in silver.

"The wives of the lords would be required to wear a tiara to attend the function," said Bruce Rowley, with Moira Fine Jewellery.

If diamonds dazzle you, consider a natural fancy red diamond for $5 million.

"One of the rarest stones in the world," said Eli Noors.

A pair of earrings holds more than 70 carats of diamonds worth more than $1 million. Created by Marina B, they belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.

For the men: a $120,000 Patek Philippe with an exhibition case. A gold rotor keeps the watch ticking.

There's also a 1960s Bulgari Serpenti watch.

"These are very, very rare and very sought after," said Maurice Moradof, with Yafa Signed Jewels.

The show runs through the weekend. Admission is $20 for a three-day pass.
