Cops: Drunken LI Woman Crashes With 3-Year-Old Son In Car

WHEATLEY HEIGHTS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman faces Leandra's law charges after crashing her car with her 3-year-old son in the back seat, according to police.

Cristi Rivas, 38, of Deer Park, was driving a 2007 Mercedes Benz GL450 in Wheatley Heights when she rear-ended a 2013 Honda Odyssey at around 6 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Rivas and her 3-year-old son was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. According to police, Rivas and Khizar Kahram, who was driving the hit vehicle, were treated for minor injuries.

Rivas' son did not appear injured and was released to a family member, police said.

Rivas' vehicle was impounded and a police investigation is ongoing.
