Jets Unveil New Green Uniforms For Next Thursday's Tilt With Bills

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Jets will soon be seeing even more green, on the field and at the cash register.

In anticipation of the NFL's "Color Rush" initiative, which will feature teams sporting new-age upgrades to their current uniforms in a series of games over the next six weeks, the Jets unveiled their new duds prior to Thursday night's contest between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

Gang Green will wear the uniforms next Thursday night when they take on Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.

The new color scheme, which is said to be "Kelly Green," appears to pay homage to the colors the Jets wore from 1963 until 1997, with a lighter shade of the green than the team currently wears dominating from head to toe.

Fans on social media gave mostly positive reviews, with many tweeting about how they plan to buy the Darrelle Revis, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker jerseys that were available on the team's official website late Thursday night. Others, however, panned the move, saying it is nothing more than a money-grab by the NFL.

Though only eight teams are participating in the initiative this season, every team in the league is expected to take part next season.

The following is a list of the teams and games in 2015:

Nov. 12 (Week 10) — Bills (Red) at Jets (Kelly Green) (game broadcast on NFL Network)

Nov. 19 (Week 11) — Titans (Titans Blue) at Jaguars (Bold Gold) (NFL Network)

Nov. 26 (Week 12) — Panthers (Panthers Blue) at Cowboys (White) (CBS)

Dec. 17 (Week 15) — Buccaneers (Red) at Rams (Yellow Gold) (NFL Network)

The Jets (4-3) will look to end a two-game losing streak when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife on Sunday.
