Search On For 2 Women In Morningside Park Robbery Attempt

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday were searching for two women who dragged another woman to the ground, and tried to rip off her purse, in Morningside Park this week.

Around 6 p.m. Friday, the 24-year-old victim was walking through the park, near 116th Street and Morningside Drive, when the suspects came up from behind, police said.

The first suspect tried to grab the woman's purse from her shoulder, while the second grabbed the woman by the hair and dragged her to the ground, police said.

The victim resisted, and the suspects left empty-handed when someone else walked by, police said.

The suspect who tried to grab the woman's purse was wearing a light-colored shirt, while the one who dragged her to the ground was wearing an orange shirt, police said.

Police have released surveillance images of both suspects.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
