Missouri Court Case For Sheldon Richardson Continued To December

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A judge has again delayed the court case against New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson following a police chase this summer.

Richardson was scheduled for arraignment Monday on five misdemeanor charges related to the July 14 incident in suburban St. Louis. The case was continued to Dec. 21. Richardson was not at the hearing in St. Charles County.

The former University of Missouri star was arrested after a chase on Interstate 64. Police say his 2014 Bentley reached speeds up to 143 mph with a 12-year-old relative in the car and a loaded handgun under a floor mat.

A probable cause statement said officers detected a marijuana odor. No drug or child endangerment charges were filed with prosecutors citing insufficient evidence.

In four games this season, Richardson has 14 combined tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
