Police: Man Groped Girl, 16, On Bronx Building Stairs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Tuesday night for a suspect who allegedly groped a 16-year-old girl in the Bronx.

Around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, the girl was walking with her mother up the stairs to an apartment in a building near Frisby Avenue and Overing Street in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx, police said.

The suspect approached the girl from behind and grabbed her buttocks, police said.

The suspect then ran off, police said. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and glasses.

Police have released surveillance photos and video of a man identified as the suspect, in which he appears to pull up the zipper on his jeans as he runs down the stairs.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
