Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Atlantic Avenue In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 70-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn Monday afternoon.

Police were called at 1:23 p.m. after the woman was struck at Atlantic and Grant avenues, police said.

The woman had been walking south on Grant Avenue, and was crossing Atlantic Avenue when she was struck by a 2002 BMW heading west, police said.

The 39-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said.

The woman, identified as Helen Marszalek of Brooklyn, was found lying in the pavement when police arrived and was pronounced dead soon afterward at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating late Monday.
