Man, 3 Teens Arrested In Central Park Robbery; Suspected In Other Incidents

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police apprehended a 20-year-old man and three teenage boys after a robbery in Central Park Thursday evening.

The teens were also suspected in two other robberies earlier this week in Central Park.

Officers were called for a robbery on the East Drive near 73rd Street in Central Park around 7:30 p.m. A man had been robbed of his iPhone and punched, police said.

Four people fled the scene, but officers canvassed the area and apprehended four suspects at 76th Street and Madison Avenue, police said.

The suspects were all males, ages 20, 17, 15, and 14, police said.

The alleged offenders ware also suspected in another robbery on the West Drive at 95th Street in Central Park at 11:15 p.m. Monday, in which a man was robbed of his credit cards and phone at gunpoint. They were further suspected in a robbery at 11:49 p.m. Monday at the Central Park reservoir at 91st Street, in which two women were robbed of their purses at gunpoint, police said.

Police late Thursday were also investigating two other robberies in and around the park in recent days.

The suspects were being held at the Central Park Precinct, and robbery charges were pending late Thursday.
