Mets Minor League Pitcher Connor Buchmann Suspended 50 Games

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Mets pitcher Connor Buchmann has been suspended for the first 50 games of next season following a positive test for amphetamine, a banned stimulant in minor league baseball's drug program.

A 22-year-old right-hander, Buchmann was an 11th-round draft pick from the University of Oklahoma in 2014. The Texas native was 0-3 with a 13.89 ERA this year in three starts and four relief appearances for the rookie-level Kingsport Mets of the Appalachian League.

There have been 104 suspensions this year under the minor league program. Buchmann's discipline was announced Thursday.
