Report: Bronx Mom, Boyfriend In Custody After Baby's Body Found In Woods

BREWSTER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx mother and her boyfriend are in police custody after the remains of the woman's 2-month-old son were reportedly found in a wooded area in Putnam County.

The 31-year-old mother reportedly confessed to her psychiatrist that the boyfriend had killed the baby and that she and the 51-year-old man drove 50 miles north to dump the body. The doctor then reported it to police, sources told the New York Daily News.

The infant's remains were discovered Saturday.

The couple reportedly stayed at the Heidi's Inn motel in Brewster after discarding of the remains. An employee there told the Daily News: "Even if you have the irrational desire to murder a baby, you'd think there'd be something left in your soul that you wouldn't want to carry it around."

The couple's names have not been released.

An autopsy will determine a cause of death.

There is no word on whether the boyfriend is the child's father.
