Police: Woman Wanted In String Of Wallet Thefts In Midtown, Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a woman who they said is wanted in a string of wallet thefts in Midtown and Lower Manhattan.

Police said the suspect has struck four times between July and September.

The first incident happened on July 18. Police said a 17-year-old girl was inside Schnippers on 8th Avenue when she noticed her wallet was missing. She later found out that her debit card had been used, police said.

Then on Aug. 5, police said a 66-year-old woman noticed her wallet missing while inside a restaurant on Prince Street. Her credit card was later used by someone to make purchases, police said.

The third incident happened on Aug. 21. A 46-year-old woman noticed her wallet was missing from her bag when she was at Dos Camino on West Broadway, police said. Inside the wallet was $80, credit cards, a bank card and a gift card.

Finally on Sept. 15, police said the suspect walked into Zara on West 34th Street and took a 29-year-old victim's unattended bag and fled. The bag was later found, but the victim's wallet was gone, police said.

The suspect was seen on surveillance video. Police describe her as a black woman, 5'2" to 5'4" tall, about 120 pounds with black hair and red highlights.
