Crews Fix Broken Water Main In Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Crews on Saturday repaired a water main break that has flooded several streets in Jersey City a day earlier.

The 12-inch main broke Friday in the area of Culver and West Side avenues in Jersey City. Roadways in that area remained closed Saturday afternoon, but no major travel problems were being reported.

Officials said crews had the flooding under control, and a shuttered stretch of West Side Avenue will likely be reopened late Sunday afternoon once paving is completed.

The cause of the break remained under investigation Saturday afternoon.

Officials said three businesses are being affected by the break, but no homes. Still, some residents in the area said they also did not have access to water.
