No Powerball Winner, Jackpot May Reach $1.3 Billion

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Lottery officials say no ticket has matched all six Powerball numbers. That means the record $949.8 million jackpot is expected to soar to $1.3 billion for Wednesday's drawing.

The odds to win were one in 292.2 million, and the numbers drawn Saturday night were 32, 16, 19, 57, 34 and Powerball number 13.

Officials with the Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs the Powerball game, said they expected about 75 percent of the possible number combinations would have been bought for Saturday night's drawing.

Three people in New York did win $1 million for matching five of the numbers. One of the tickets was sold at Four Season Fresh Farm in Ridgewood, Queens. The others were sold in Smithtown, Long Island, and in Columbia County.

"Maybe more customers come here," Four Season's owner told 1010 WINS' Samantha Liebman. "It's lucky store."

Since Nov. 4, the Powerball jackpot has grown from its $40 million starting point as no one has won the jackpot. Sales for the lottery game have skyrocketed since Wednesday, when no one won an estimated $500 million jackpot.

People were already buying tickets Sunday morning for the next drawing.

When CBS2's Ilana Gold asked one man who purchased a ticket if he thought he'd win, he said: "No. Nobody's going to win. Well, somebody's going to win, not me. I figure, why not? Give it a chance."

"It's just exciting to be part of something where everyone wants the same thing," one woman told Gold.

The amount for this jackpot has soared so high stores can't even fit all the numbers of the Powerball signs -- it only goes up to 999 million, Gold reported.

Many people are already thinking about how they would spend their fortune.

"I probably would just put in the bank account, get me a house and do the right thing with it," one woman said.

Powerball is played in 44 states as well as the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
