Ryan Fitzpatrick Forgets Dish He Was Supposed To Bring To 'Rachael Ray Show'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ryan Fitzpatrick lost a key possession in his appearance Tuesday on "The Rachael Ray Show."

The Jets quarterback and his wife, Liza, were sharing their recipe for slow-cooker chicken squares on an episode filmed in New York and dedicated to Super Bowl Sunday food.

But they somehow forgot the dish they prepared at home.

"When you go into a football game, you've got to game-plan, and you just kind of have everything set out how it's going to go. Adversity strikes, and you kind of sway off of the path," Fitzpatrick joked.

Fortunately, there was a prerecorded segment of the couple preparing the chicken squares, which they made in a Jets slow cooker.

Fitzpatrick said he was actually happy he forgot the snacks because it meant he could eat them at home instead of sharing them with Ray and former Giants quarterback Jesse Palmer, who was also on the show.

Ray asked Fitzpatrick if he liked to watch football when he's not playing.

"I do," he said. "Right after the season ended, that next week was difficult to watch football, just thinking, 'Ah, we could've been in it.'"

Ray, a Jets fan, then made Fitzpatrick pinky-swear that next year he would be playing in the Super Bowl.
