NYPD Searching For Man Wanted In 7 Midtown Bank Robberies

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)— The NYPD is on the hunt for a man they say stole thousands of dollars from several New York City banks.

The suspect is wanted in seven midtown Manhattan bank robberies since September 2015, police said.

In each incident, police said the suspect approached the teller and demanded money. He made off with anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000 in each case.

The most recent incident occurred Thursday evening at a Santander Bank located at 1290 Avenue of the Americas. Police said he got away with $2,700 in that case.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, 5'9" tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He was last spotted wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, black du-rag, blue jeans, and a black book bag.

Anyone with information regarding the incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
