Man Collapses With Chest Pains At 'A View From The Bridge' On Broadway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The audience at Lyceum Theatre on Friday night got the wrong kind of showstopper.

As the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's "A View From The Bridge" was nearing its dramatic climax, an audience member seated on stage collapsed with chest pains, 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported.

"Somebody said several times loudly 'heart attack, heart attack, he's having a heart attack,'" said Dave, who was in the audience. "The actors were trying to go through it at first because they just thought it was somebody talking, but then they turned and they realized what was going on too."

Dave said the actors then quickly got off stage as a call went out for a doctor in the house and others dialed 911.

"EMTs and a couple of cops came in and the whole thing seemed to be done in 20 minutes or so, from the time when they first started screaming heart attack until the time the EMTs left with him," he said.

The play resumed about a half an hour later.

There's no word on the condition of the man.
