New Lip Implant Procedure Offers Natural, Soft Look

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Valentine's Day is just around the corner and if you're like most romantic couples, you might be sharing a kiss or two this weekend.

But many women think their lips should be a little larger to be seductive.

Whether you think they're attractive or not, high-profile celebrities are clearly enhancing their lips. Kylie Jenner even spawned viral videos for temporary lip puffing.

There are many women who want fuller lips without going to extremes.

"I just love the way they look and I love the confidence that I have when I have a nice full lip," Kasey Graziano told CBS2's Dr. Max Gomez.

Others are looking for a look that is still natural and soft, an obstacle lip augmentation procedures have a hard time getting right. Injectable fillers work all right, but sometimes they harden or they don't last.

"The more expensive the item, the longer it lasts, but nothing lasts much longer than a year. So people getting these injections have to go in every single year or less and get multiple needles injected into their lips to maintain a moderate increase in size or whatever they want," Dr. Zachary Gerut told CBS2.

Fat injections also disappear and produce the dreaded "duck lips," which can often end up looking more like a caricature than a human being.

Permalip may help solve this concern. The soft, stretchy, flexible lip implants offered by Dr. Gerut come in small, medium and large.

They're inserted through two tiny incisions in the corners of the mouth in a 30-minute procedure. The results? Soft, kissable lips.

"When I touch them, I don't feel anything. So it should be okay. If anything happens, I'll let you know," Eileen Phoenix, a lip implant patient, told CBS2.

The implants are permanent, but can be removed if you don't like them or want to change sizes. Cost is about $3,500, about the costs of two sets of lips injections.
