Brooklyn Teen Fatally Shoots Friend While Celebrating Video Game Victory

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- A teenager in Brooklyn was shot and killed Thursday evening after a friend waved a gun in celebration of a video game victory.

The 16-year-old victim, Denzil Nash, died from a gunshot wound to the face, officials said.

Nash was at his friend's house playing a football video game when his 15-year-old buddy scored a touchdown. He celebrated by waving the gun, which went off and fatally struck Nash.

"It really shook me up... I'm a father-- it's really tragic," 703 Miller Avenue landlord Kenneth Gray told 1010 WINS' Al Jones.

The alleged shooter tried to flee, but was found by police.

The superintendent of the building said that kids are often hanging around the apartment.

"I think the mother has to have some responsibility because for the past three years this kid has been there 95 percent of the time by himself," he told 1010 WINS.

The 15-year-old has been charged with manslaughter.
