TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork) – As the Yankees’ pitchers and catchers are preparing for the upcoming season, they’re watching video of … Cam Newton?

It turns out, according to an ESPN report, the Yankees showed video of the Carolina Panthers quarterback’s post-Super Bowl interview as an example of what not to do when speaking to the media.

After the Panthers lost to the Denver Broncos 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7, Newton, wearing a hood over his head, sulked while answering reporters’ questions, mostly with one-word answers. After about three minutes, he stood up and walked out.

The Yankees, meanwhile, have reportedly been using Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson as an example of the right way to handle defeat.

After Wilson threw an interception at the goal line with 25 seconds left in Super Bowl XLIX, he answered reporters’ questions and took responsibility for the loss to the New England Patriots, when many others were quick to blame the coaching staff for not calling a running play to Marshawn Lynch.

Two days after his own Super Bowl disappointment, Newton called himself a “sore loser,” made no apologies for showing his emotions and refused to change his ways to pacify his critics.
