Officials: Man Stabbed In Neck At M Train Station In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was stabbed in the neck after an argument on the M train in Brooklyn late Tuesday night, officials said.
According to officials, a confrontation occurred between a 33-year-old victim and a 27-year-old suspect, sources said.
An NYPD spokesperson told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond the victim got into an argument with the suspect as the train was nearing the Myrtle Avenue and Broadway stop in Bedford-Stuyvesant at around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night.
The suspect took out a pocket knife, stabbed the victim in the neck and slashed his hand, according to officials.
The suspect was taken into custody after police found him on the train with blood on his shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
The victim walked to Woodhull Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Another incident occurred Tuesday night on Autumn Street in Cypress Hills, where a man and woman teamed up and slashed an 18-year-old in the face, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.
CBS2 asked Mayor Bill de Blasio about the increasing in slashings — up 20 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015. De Blasio said part of the solution will be deploying more officers to patrol.
The latest NYPD figures indicate there have been 578 stabbings and slashings incidents in New York City since Jan. 1.
