NJ Police Chase Ends With Car Crashing Into Home, Bursting Into Flames

SADDLE BROOK, N.J.  (CBSNewYork)-- A police chase in New Jersey ended after a car burst into flames and crashed into a home.

A Black Nissan led police on a wild chase through Bergen County early Saturday morning. The car wound up smashing right into the side of a house at the corner of Spring Valley Avenue and Farview Avenue in Paramus, CBS2's Brian Conybeare reported.

Sgt. Leigh Cadigan saw the car run a red light at an intersection when he pulled the driver over, police said. As he approached the car, the driver sped away. The officer pursued the car, which eventually ended in the crash.

Saddle Brook police identified the driver as 25-year-old Marlon Vancooten of Brooklyn. Vancooten fled on foot, but was detained by officers. He is charged with eluding police and vehicle violations. He is being held on $50,000 bond at Bergen County Jail.
