NJ Family Allegedly Set $139,000 Bentley On Fire In Fraud Scheme

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Hudson County family has been charged with allegedly setting their $139,000 Bentley on fire and reporting it stolen as part of an insurance fraud scheme.

Chester Jarzabek, 63, his wife Anna Jarzabek, 61 allegedly torched the vehicle shortly after purchasing it from D.I.B Leasing in Teterboro, where their son John Jarzabek, 26, was employed as a salesman, according to the Attorney General's office.

The couple allegedly conspired with their son and D.I.B leasing manager Hector Marquez, 43, of Monore, to burn the vehicle for insurance money, according to the indictment.

According to the indictment, the Jarzabeks also worked with Marquez and D.I.B bookkeeper Michael Riccardi, 53, of Wayne to create false car loan documents to lie about their income in order to be eligible to purchase the vehicle.

"These defendants are accused of pulling out all stops to line their own pockets," said Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said in a release. "It is especially distasteful that the alleged criminal behavior was a family affair."

The Jarzabeks and Marquez face charges of second-degree conspiracy, insurance fraud, second-degree theft and third-degree theft. Riccardi face similar charges, including third-degree theft and conspiracy.
