Bumble Bee Recalls More Than 31,500 Cases Of Canned Chunk Tuna

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Bumble Bee Foods is voluntarily recalling more than 31,500 cases of canned tuna over possible contamination.

The company said a packing facility -- not owned or operated by Bumble Bee -- didn't follow the commercial sterilization process and some of the products could be spoiled or contain bacteria.

So far, there have been no reports of illness.

The recall involves cans of chunk light tuna in oil or water with specific universal product codes and best by dates. CLICK HERE FOR THE DETAILS

The company said the recall was issued out of an abundance of caution and it is working closely with the Food and Drug Administration.

The cans were produced last month and distributed nationwide.

Consumers are advised to throw away the product.

For more information, call the company at (888) 820-1947 or visit www.bumblebee.com/recall-march-2016.
