Man Accidentally Sets Himself On Fire At Florida High School Pep Rally
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBSNewYork) -- A man performing at a Florida high school pep rally accidentally set himself on fire in front of a crowd of students, CBS News reports.
The man was performing at Atlantic Community High School's gym on Thursday morning when he was rushed to the hospital with burns, Delray Beach Fire Rescue Capt. Ed Beardsley said. The severity of his burns was not disclosed.
Officials said seven students were hospitalized after breathing in fire extinguisher dust, but that the injuries were not serious.
A video posted by a Twitter user shows the man apparently being engulfed in flames as throws himself to the floor.
The incident happened during a pep rally for the Florida Standard Assessment testing, Palm Beach County spokesperson Kathy Burstein said. She said students went back to class following the catastrophe.
