Former NY Rep. Robert Mrazek Makes Feature Film "The Congressman"

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former U.S. congressman from New York has written and co-directed a film titled "The Congressman.''

Former Rep. Robert Mrazek directed the movie with actor and filmmaker Jared Martin.

Martin is known for playing Dusty Farlow on the 1980s prime-time soap "Dallas.''

"The Congressman'' stars Treat Williams as Charlie Winship, a Maine congressman whose refusal to say the Pledge of Allegiance creates a media firestorm.

Other actors starring in the film include SAG award nominees Elizabeth Marvel and Jayne Atkinson, Alexander Cook and Ryan Merriman.

Mrazek, a Democrat, represented a congressional district on Long Island from 1983 to 1993.

He retired following accusations that he and other lawmakers repeatedly overdrew their checking account funds at the House bank.

"The Congressman'' will screen on April 29 at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, New York, as well as venues in New York City and Washington.
