2016 New York International Auto Show Rolls Into Town

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- From luxury sport utility vehicles to sports cars, there's something for everyone at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.

"Like the city, there's a lot of diversity," AutoTrader executive editor Brian Moody said.

With lower gas prices, many brands are once again featuring bigger cars for families more concerned with space than price per gallon.

Luxury brand Lincoln wants showgoers to think big with its concept Navigator.

"It's rather impressive with its gull wing doors that open up and you can see the entirely redesigned interior," the brand's Dave Rivers told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond.

Also on the luxury end, Nissan's new GT-R is making its world debut.

"What we've really done is improved the driveability of the vehicle, improved the acoustics of the car," a brand representative said.

For those with a need for speed, there's a candy apple red Chevrolet Camaro.

"Internally we like to call that 'pull me over' red," chief engineer Al Oppenheiser said. "This is the ultimate Camaro. The fastest most powerful Camaro we've ever done."

For those who are budget and eco-conscious, there's the brand new Prius Prime.

Kia is offering the plug-in Soul EV.

"It drives wonderfully, it looks cool, it gets you 93 miles of all electric range," brand manager Steve Kosowski said.

New York's auto show is not the biggest, but perhaps the most important for manufacturers who want to be on trend, said Moody.

"New York is the kind of city, an American city that sort of dictates, in many ways, what's to come in terms of fashion, culture, food and the way that we do business," Moody said.

The show runs from March 25 through April 3 at the Jacob Javits Center.
