Search On For Suspect Who Knocked Down, Robbed 103-Year-Old Woman In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police late Friday were searching for a suspect who knocked a 103-year-old woman to the ground and robbed her in her building in the Co-Op City section of the Bronx.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, a woman walked into the older woman's building on Bellamy Loop and followed her onto an elevator, police said. The younger woman took the elevator with the victim and followed her out into the hallway, police said.

The suspect then knocked the older woman to the floor and took her shopping cart containing two meals she had gotten from the community center, and her purse with an undetermined amount of money, credit cards, and identification, police said.

The suspect then ran off, police said.

The 103-year-old woman refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The suspect was described as a black female standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. Police have released surveillance video.
