Kids Of Multiple Religions Join Together In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Some teenagers of different religions, but similar values joined to work together on Sunday.
At a time when hatred seems to be stamped in the DNA of some kids, this group was brought together in an interfaith effort, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported.
"People are Jewish, Christian and Muslim," said Wendy Levinson of the Riverdale YMCA. "We talk about the shared values and we try to focus on the similarities."
Levinson said the students not only talk, but work side by side. They were sprucing up an Islamic Center in the Bronx this weekend.
Levinson said Muslim kids routinely face stereotypes.
"It's so important for them to meet Christian kids and Jewish kids who don't think that," she said.
Levinson said there is already a synagogue in the mosque.
