LISTEN: Francesa Tells Mets Fans Not To Overreact To Opening Night Loss

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Calm down, Mets fans.

That was Mike Francesa's message to open his show Monday, a day after the Mets fell to the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in their season opener.

"Please, it's baseball. It's one game," the WFAN host said. "I mean, come on now. You can't treat baseball like it's the NFL. It's not the NFL. It's not the first week and 'Woh is me.'"

Francesa said Sunday night's game played out similarly to last season's World Series, which the Royals won in five games.

"It looked like the Mets and Royals last year," he said. "The Royals don't strike out. The Royals put their gloves on balls that other people don't. They turn hits into outs. And the Mets turned outs into hits. And the Mets weren't particularly sharp in any area, whether it was (Matt) Harvey, whether it was (Yoenis) Cespedes, whether it was (David) Wright."
