Newark Police Department Computers Hacked

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The Newark Police Department was the victim of a hacking attack.

Newark's Public Safety Department confirmed the attack to CBS2.

They said the virus infected several computers last week.

Public Safety Department Director Anthony Ambrose said there's no indication that information was compromised or lost.

He said the department's IT employees were quickly able to clean the system.

Additional safeguards have also been installed.
