Brother, Sister, Third Man Arrested On Heroin Charges In Bethpage

BETHPAGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A sister and brother, along with a third man, were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Bethpage, Long Island this week.

Nassau County police Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team officers pulled over a 2001 Nissan Altima on Collector Lane in Bethpage around 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

The officers allegedly saw the rear passenger, identified as Steven Scheufler, 24, of Queens, trying to hide several glassine envelopes full of heroin in his pants, police said.

Police went on to search the vehicle and allegedly found more than 100 decks of heroin, along with six pills identified as Zolpidem, police said.

Schuefler was arrested, along with the driver – Mandy Kougianos, 28 – and her brother – Nikolas Kougianos, 25, both of Bethpage, police said.

The suspects were all charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and were arraigned Thursday in Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
