Girl, 7, Falls From Fire Escape In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 7-year-old autistic girl was hospitalized early Monday morning after falling from a building's fire escape in the Bronx.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. on Andrews Avenue in University Heights.

Police said the girl was able to climb out of her fourth floor apartment window, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported. But authorities now believe the child fell from a lower level, one or two stories above the ground.

The girl was taken to Columbia University Medical Center. She is expected to be OK.
