Family Gives Birth To First Girl In Over 150 Years

BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- For the first time in over a century, a family finally had a girl.

CBS2's Cindy Hsu reported the Ziobro family in Bergen County, New Jersey, hadn't had a girl born in more than 150 years. Eve, the daughter to Chris and Christine Ziobro, was the first girl on the father's side of the family born since 1860.

"Her name was Katerina Ziobro. She was born to Joseph and Anna Ziobro in Poland," Chris Ziobro said of the last time a girl was born in the family.

Christine Ziobro said coming up with a name for their daughter wasn't that hard.

"I was like, 'Adam and Eve,'" she said. "Eve is the first girl, and she's the first girl since 1860. It's the perfect fit."

Christine Ziobro's mother gave the family some girl clothes hand-me-downs.

"I have some of the stuff my mom saved that I wore when I was a baby," she said. "This is mine – Care Bears."

The Ziobros have two other children – 5-year-old Chris and 3-year-old Chester.

"I need to be gentle with her," the younger Chris said. "I just tickle her and she laughs."

The family admits Eve is a daddy's girl and he's already protective as he's worried about when she gets old enough to start dating.
