5-Month Old Zebra Remains On the Loose In Upstate New York

CATSKILL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP)-- An escaped zebra in upstate New York is still on the loose.

The owner of a zebra is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who gives information on its safe return after the animal bolted from a ranch.

Richard Myer tells the Times Union of Albany his five-month old zebra named Zula was spooked by a branch hitting a barn last Thursday at Bailiwick Animal Park and Riding Stables in Catskill, 30 miles south of Albany.

Myer spent Sunday driving on back roads in wooded areas around Catskill looking for Zula, who is about the size of a large pony.

Local volunteers have joined the search, and Myer says police also have been on the lookout for the wayward zebra.
