The Mets bounced back after losing two of three to the Washington Nationals with a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Mets completed the sweep with a 3-1 win Sunday afternoon. Noah Syndergaard struck out 11 and did not walk a batter in seven innings to get the victory over the Brewers.

Syndergaard, who allow neither a run nor a walk and struck out 10 Nationals in his previous start, joined Dwight Gooden as the only Mets pitchers to have consecutive starts with double-digit strikeouts and no bases on balls. Gooden struck out 16 in back-to-back starts and did not walk a batter in either outing against the Pirates and Phillies in September 1984.

David Wright's ninth-inning single drove in the winning run in the Mets' 5-4 victory over the Brewers on Saturday at Citi Field. It was the ninth career game-ending RBI for the Mets' captain and set a new club record, breaking a tie with Kevin McReynolds, who had eight for New York.

It was the seventh walk-off win for the Mets against the Brewers, who were on the losing end of the first such Mets victory at Citi Filed in 2009:

· 5/21/16: Mets 5, Brewers 4, Wright single in ninth
· 9/23/10: Mets 4, Brewers 3, Ruben Tejada double in ninth
· 4/17/09: Mets 5, Brewers 4, Luis Castillo single in ninth
· 8/2/05: Mets 9, Brewers 8, Mike Piazza walk in 11th
· 5/9/04: Mets 6, Brewers 5, Kazuo Matsui double in 11th
· 9/13/00: Mets 4, Brewers 1, Jay Payton three-run HR in 10th
· 4/20/00: Mets 5, Brewers 4, Melvin Mora solo HR in 10th

Steven Matz went seven innings for the win in the Mets' 3-2 victory over the Brewers on Friday night. Matz, who made his major-league debut last season, is now 10-1 in 13 games with the Mets.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Matz is one of three pitchers in the last 20 years to earn at least 10 wins within his first 13 major-league games. The other two to do so over that span were former Met Kaz Ishii and Masahiro Tanaka. Ishii had 10 wins through 12 major-league games with the Dodgers in 2002, while Tanaka got his 10th win in his 13th game with the Yankees in 2014.

Ex-Met Ruben Tejada made his first major league pitching appearance for the Cardinals on Friday night, mopping up in the ninth inning of St. Louis' 11-7 loss to Arizona. Four other Mets position players have pitched for the Cardinals: Jose Oquendo, Bobby Bonilla, Rob Johnson (who also pitched once for the Mets) and Rick Ankiel, who converted from pitcher to outfielder.

The Mets dropped the rubber game of their three-game series with the Nationals as Washington scored seven runs in the third inning in a 9-1 victory at Citi Field and Stephen Strasburg defeated Matt Harvey. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first time in Expos/Nationals history they scored as many as seven runs in an inning against the Mets since July 26, 2004, at Montreal.

The Mets lost to the Nationals 7-1 on Wednesday night in the middle game of their series with Washington. Mets pitchers struck out 11, but allowed 11 walks in the loss.

It was just the sixth time overall and second time in a nine-inning game that Mets pitchers both struck out at least 11 and walked 11 or more in the same game:

· 5/18/16: Was 7 at Mets 1, 11 K, 11 BB
· 5/9/14: Phi 3 at Mets 2 (11 innings), 11 K, 12 BB
· 4/17/10: Mets 2 at Stl 1 (20 innings), 19 K, 11 BB
· 8/21/98: Stl 10 at Mets 5, 11 K, 12 BB
· 7/4/85: Mets 16 at Atl 13 (19 innings), 11 K, 12 BB
· 5/12/78: Hou 5 at Mets 4 (14 innings), 12 K, 12 BB

The Mets won the opener of the the three-game series with the Nationals, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Citi Field. Curtis Granderson led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run against Max Scherzer, and Michael Conforto added a solo homer in the third.

Here are the six games the Mets have won 2-0 with both runs scored on solo homers in club history:

· 5/17/16: Was 0 at Mets 2, Granderson and Conforto
· 8/20/06: Col 0 at Mets 2, Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran
· 5/13/05: Stl 0 at Mets 2, Cliff Floyd (2)
· 5/9/00: Mets 2 at Pit 0, Derek Bell and Edgardo Alfonzo
· 4/9/81: Mets 2 at Chi 0, Lee Mazzilli and Rusty Staub
· 4/29/69: Mets 2 at Mtl 0, Ed Kranepool (2)

Happy Recap: What a Relief. The Mets' bullpen has not allowed a run in their last 14 1/3 innings of work over four games and leads the majors with a 2.33 ERA this season.

Nine Miles of Rough Road: Unhappy Harvey Days. After beating San Diego two weeks ago, Matt Harvey has now struggled in back-to-back starts, surrendering a season-high 11 hits in his outing in Colorado and a season-high six earned runs vs. the Nationals. Harvey is now 3-6 with a 5.77 ERA and has yet to pitch past the sixth inning in 2016.
