Police: Man Slammed Into 2 Police Vehicles, Maced Officers In Linden, N.J.

LINDEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police said suspect rammed his sport-utility vehicle into two department vehicles, and sprayed two officers with a disabling chemical, in Linden, New Jersey Tuesday.

Just before 4 p.m., a 27-year-old man drove a black sport-utility vehicle into the Linden Police Headquarters parking lot through the exit, police told CBS2.

He first He rammed his vehicle into an unoccupied police truck, police said.

An officer witnessed the incident and pursued the suspect about three or four blocks to Henry and Spruce streets, police said. At that point, the suspect then rammed his vehicle into the police squad car, police said.

Officers took the suspect into custody and transported him back to police headquarters. But after they returned, the suspect he pulled out a small Mace and sprayed two officers, police said.

Officers also used Mace to subdue the suspect, police said.

He was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Hospital in Elizabeth for being disorderly, and will be evaluated, police said.

Officers had to call in the fire department to vent the building due to the mace, police said.

Police late Tuesday were investigating to see if suspect struck any other vehicles through town.
