3 Found Stabbed In Park In Rockville Centre

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Three people were found stabbed Tuesday night in a park in Rockville Centre, Long Island.

Police were called just after 8:30 p.m. to Morgan Days Park in Rockville Centre, police said.

The stabbings happened near the basketball courts, where police tape was up at the scene late Tuesday night.

Three people were injured in the stabbing, and at least one was in serious condition, police said. The most severely injured person was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, police said.

Residents said Morgan Days Park is a very popular and well-used park for Little League baseball, handball and basketball, CBS2's Tracee Carrasco reported.

The scene of the stabbing was just two miles south of the site where three three teenagers were stabbed with a machete on Monday.

Around 3:15 p.m. Monday, a suspect armed with a knife and a machete attacked the group of teenage boys on a wooded trail at Hempstead Lake State Park in West Hempstead, police said. The boys were all stabbed, one seriously enough to require surgery, police said.

It was not immediately known whether the Tuesday night stabbing in Rockville Centre was related to the incident the day before. There had been no arrests in either case late Tuesday.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, Morgan Days Park was closed. There was no word on when it would reopen.
