Several Concerts Postponed, Canceled In Wake Of Irving Plaza Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The concert company that operates Irving Plaza is canceling and postponing several shows following last week's deadly shooting.

Live Nation is acting "with an overabundance of caution" after gunfire erupted last Wednesday night in a green room at the venue just before the rapper T.I. was to perform, a spokesman said.

Three rap concerts scheduled this week as part of the Governors Ball Music Festival at Irving Plaza were canceled. A message on the festival's website said refunds will be available as points of purchase.

Live Nation also postponed a show at Gramercy Theatre by the Guns N' Roses tribute band, Appetite for Destruction, to Aug. 12. Rock band Black Pistol Fire's concert at Gramercy Theatre on Saturday has been moved to Saint Vitus Bar. A concert by popular rapper YG scheduled for Monday at Gramercy Theatre has been canceled.

Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, is being held without bail in connection with the fatal shooting.

One of Collins' bodyguards, 33-year-old Ronald McPhatter, was killed.

Three other people, including Collins, were wounded. Concertgoer Maggie Heckstall, 26, was shot in the leg, and Christopher Vinson, 34, was shot in the chest.

Attorney Scott E. Leemon said Collins, who's charged with attempted murder, did not shoot McPhatter or himself.

He says McPhatter "died a hero'' trying to protect Collins.
