Police: Man Slashes 25-Year-Old Woman's Neck After Attempted Assault In Bushwick

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Police are searching for a man they say slashed a young woman in the neck after attempting to her assault her in Brooklyn early Sunday morning.

At around 5 a.m. near Wyckoff Avenue and Starr Street in Bushwick, police say the man approached the 25-year-old woman from behind and put a sharp object up to her throat while telling her to bend over.

The woman yelled out for help and was able to break away after briefly struggling with the attacker. During the struggle, the man cut her neck with the sharp object resulting in a 4-inch gash.

She was taken to Wyckoff Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 9 inches and was last seen wearing a black and red baseball cap, a black long sleeve shirt and dark colored pants.
