NYPD Searching For Black Camaro In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Death

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The manhunt continues for the driver police said struck a bicyclist in Brooklyn and left him to die.

CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported the NYPD released photos of the black Camaro they're looking for in the hit-and-run death in Williamsburg of Matthew Van Ohlen, 35.

"How could you? It's a human being," Williamsburg resident Jack Clement said.

Investigators said Van Ohlen was where he was supposed to be early Saturday morning, riding in the clearly marked bike lane along Grand Street near Manhattan Avenue when he was struck and killed.

"It's a tragedy that someone feels they can take his life and drag them," Williamsburg resident Kate Manning said. "I'm just gonna cry thinking about it."

Surveillance video shows neighbors and drivers trying to help save Van Olen.

Friends said Van Ohlen was an avid bicyclist who co-founded a company called Bikestock – installing vending machines throughout New York and Boston geared toward bikers on the go.

Police said the black Camaro had dark-tinted windows and was last seen traveling eastbound shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
