Judge: Accuser In Cosby Sex Assault Case Does Not Have To Testify
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBSNewYork) -- The cameras followed Bill Cosby's every move in and out of a courthouse in Norristown, Pa. on Thursday.
The defense wanted to cross-examine Andrea Constand, the accuser in Cosby's sex assault case, before he goes on trial -- the request was denied.
As 1010 WINS' Steve Kastenbaum reported, Cosby didn't have anything to say on the judge's ruling that the trial should proceed.
Defense attorney Brian McMonagle said the argued that they had a right to question the accuser on the witness stand in a pretrial hearing.
"Someone who has given so much to so many had his constitutional rights trampled upon once again," he said.
The prosecution is basing its case on statements that the former Temple University employee made to investigators more than 11 years ago.
She claims that Cosby gave her drugs that rendered her unable to fend him off as he molested her inside his home in 2004.
