NYPD: Woman Threatens Man With Hammer On 5 Train

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a woman who allegedly threatened a man with a hammer on the subway earlier this month.

According to police, it was around 11 a.m. on July 7 when the suspect, wielding a hammer, allegedly approached a 30-year-old man on a southbound 5 train and told him to "step."

The man got off the train at Franklin Avenue and was not injured.

Police describe the suspect as around 5'11" tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Surveillance images of the suspect can be viewed above.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or by logging on to their website at www.NYPDcrimestoppers.com. Callers can remain anonymous.
