Police: Bridgeport Man Riding In Car Struck, Killed By Brick

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Police said a Connecticut man was killed after he was struck by a brick thrown at a car he was riding in.

Three men were riding in Bridgeport around 8:40 p.m. Saturday when a group of people they were passing began throwing rocks and a brick at the car, smashing the windshield and passenger's window, police said.

Forty-one-year-old Edy Morales of Bridgeport was hit in the head by the brick.

"It struck him in such a way that it severed his carotid artery," police spokesman Av Harris told WCBS 880's Fran Schneidau.

He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said police are investigating the incident as a homicide. Police said it's unclear what prompted the crowd to start throwing rocks.

The death marks the city's fourth homicide this year.
