Francesa: Yankees Fans Need To 'Get Real' If They Think Team Will Make Playoffs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mike Francesa has a message for Yankees fans: they're not making the playoffs.

During Monday's show open, Francesa listed what's against the Yankees right now.

"If anybody thinks this team, which has really one starting pitcher, an anemic lineup, a bunch of old guys, and is facing just about the hardest schedule of any contender in the sport, and has played terribly against the teams that they are stockpiled to play the rest of the way, if this team is going to playoffs, c'mon now, get real," Francesa said.

He continued, "It's just not good anymore. If the Yanks are in it, then 11 teams are in it."

Francesa also said Boston Red Sox fans took over Yankee Stadium this past weekend.

"I'll tell you something else, and I think it was true of the entire weekend, there were so many Red Sox fans in the building for that game, I actually think it was 40-60," Francesa said. "There were Red Sox fans everywhere, absolutely everywhere, throughout the weekend. So there were good crowds, there were exceptional crowds, but there were a million Red Sox fans in the buildings for those games."

Francesa also talked about the Mets and the British Open. Click on the audio player to listen to the show's open.
