1 Employee Beaten, 1 Tied Up In Williamsburg Accounting Office Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police late Thursday were searching for two suspects who violently robbed a business in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

As CBS2's Valerie Castro reported, surveillance video showed the suspects running away shortly after the robbery at the accounting business on Roebling Street around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police said a 60-year-old man who worked at the accounting office was violently assaulted, and sources said one of the suspects even used a Taser on him.

A 19-year-old woman working at the business was tied up during the robbery.

Surveillance video showed one of the suspects wearing what appeared to be a FedEx uniform and ditching his hat as he ran from the scene.

"Very disgusted; very upset," said a man named Manny who works at the business next door.

Manny said he saw the suspects take off.

"I saw the guys running out. They ran through the door. We heard some screams. We went to the door. We tried to open the door. The door was locked. We broke open the door," Manny said.

Once inside the business, Manny found the victims.

"We broke open the door and saw the guy bleeding. We called our emergency," he said. "Looks like they were hitting him in the head, I don't know exactly. She was tied up. They threw her to ground and they tied her up."

Others in the area were surprised to hear the small business was targeted.

"It's usually safe around here," said a resident named Andre. "It's always safe around here, especially during the daytime."

"These people have been here for a very long time as well, these little businesses," said a resident named Gloria.

The 60-year-old employee was taken to a hospital to be treated, while the younger employee was treated at the scene.
