Police: Suspect Beats Man With Baseball Bat In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a man was critically hurt when he was attacked and beaten by a man with a baseball bat while walking on the street in Brooklyn.

It happened around 9 a.m. Sunday on Albany Avenue.

Police said the 48-year-old man was walking northbound when an unknown man walked up to him from behind and struck him in the head with a bat.

When the victim fell to the ground, police said the suspect kept beating his head and body with the bat. He then fled west on Rutland Road.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the suspect was seen on surveillance video after the incident. He is described by police as a 30-year-old  black man, about 6'2" with a heavy build. He was seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
