Police: New Jersey Man Lied About Being Attacked By Bear In Yard

POHATCONG, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Pohatcong Township Police said a man lied about being attacked by a bear in his backyard.

Jeffrey Wilson, 57, told police last week he was attacked by a 500-pound black bear when he went out his back door to feed his cats.

Following an investigation from Pohatcong police and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Game, police said Wilson's injuries to his left arm were caused by a "non-related accident that happened the night before."

"These conclusions were determined by law enforcement and medical personnel who specialize in animal encounters along with blood-stain analysis," police said.
