8/14 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon, folks! Another dangerously hot day out there as the hot temps and tropical-like humidity make it feel like 100-110 degrees at times. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 10 PM tonight for most of the region. Its a Heat Advisory for eastern Ulster, Dutchess, and the Twin Forks. Actual temps will be in the low to mid 90s.

As we've seen the past few days, scattered thunderstorms will pop during the late afternoon and evening hours. The best chance would once again be north and west of the city, and some may become severe with damaging winds as the main threat. Any storm will contain heavy downpours and vivid lightning. Be sure to take cover immediately if a storm approaches your town.

Tomorrow will be better... relatively speaking of course! We'll top out in the upper 80s and low 90s with heat indices in the mid 90s. There is a slight chance of an isolated shower or storm north and west, but most should stay dry under partly sunny skies. Still hot, but not as brutal.

We're back in the upper 80s by mid-week, but the humidity sticks around. Best chance of showers and storms looks like Tuesday into Wednesday with a front nearby.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay cool!
