Mike Francesa Announces He's Named His Racehorse Mongo Nation

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Mike Francesa is debuting a new horse at Saratoga on Wednesday -- and paying homage to his loyal fans in the process.

The WFAN host announced on his show Tuesday that he named his 2-year-old colt Mongo Nation, after his unofficial fan club.

"We went back and forth on this, and I said all right, why not?" Francesa said. "So we'll see how things go."

As of Tuesday, Mongo Nation was facing 12-to-1 odds in the sixth race. Post time is at 3:48 p.m.

"Tough field," Francesa said. "All the regular big-time 2-year-old trainers are in there."

Among those trainers are D. Wayne Lukas and Chad C. Brown, whose horse, Forge, is the favorite at 8-to-5.

Mongo Nation's trainer is Larry Mejias and jockey is Joe Bravo.
